"To name an object is largely to destroy poetic enjoyment, which comes from gradual divination. The ideal is to suggest the object. It is the perfect use of this mystery which constitutes symbol. An object must be gradually evoked in order to show a state of soul." - Stéphane Mallarmé

Picture this. A spiritual place, either real or imagined, conjured from delicate washes of sea-green watercolor over barely-visible pencil guidelines. The almost mystical light is modulated; the surface, luminous. An intimate, consistent progression, or a series of speculations, in which each variation clarifies and helps generate the next. Deceptively simple, spare and sensual, the drawing has the liberating power to transcend reality, affording us a glimpse of a richer dimension. Poetry itself.
